We have 170 children who attend the masjid madrassah every week day from 4pm- 7pm. The children aim to read the Qur’an with Tajweed, learn basic Islamic studies, Dua’s and memorise Juz Amma before they leave the masjid.
The classes are split between brothers and sisters. We have 4 paid employees and 3 volunteers. We have been trying to recruit another male member of staff who can lead the madrassah project for us. This job could be added to the Centre manager role, so that the person can teach children in the masjid and carry out the centre role whilst it develops into a better project.
One of the areas highlighted as needing improvement was our madrassah project. We currently have 160 students enrolled in the madrassah and have 6 teachers employed by the masjid. The aim of the madrassah is to educate children with basic Quran teaching, basic Islamic studies, Hifz of a collection of Surah’s from Juz Amma and a number of key Dua’s from fortress of a Muslim. We needed to employ one sister and one brother to the madrassah teaching staff so we could provide a better service. During the year we employed a sister in November 2014 who has worked on the sister madrassah and currently this has improved and is delivering a really good service.
The madrassah had a fun day where a number of students were rewarded as seen below
