We already have an outreach programme through our already running play / youth project in the local area, this is a group of experienced volunteers who organise and run activities, sports events and trips.
We have been running this voluntary youth Club since 2005, and have worked with over 100 young people in our area.
Development of Existing Projects
Activity 1 â Utley Centre Ltd already run core curriculum classes in maths and English for boys aged 7-16 every Saturday for 2 hours which is already being facilitated from the centre. However we want to expand these services by providing the same opportunities for female education classes for the same age group, these classes will be held from the centre and will take place on a Saturday afternoon between 11am - 1 pm.
Activity 2 â We already run a football project aimed at local boys which is held at the local park, the organisation aims to develop this project by building partnerships with local schools to use their facilitates
We would like to build upon current sports activities to also offer these facilities to females and expand the types of sports young people are participating in.
Activity 3 â The organisation runs a weekly citizenship class for youths aged 5-25, this project facilitates a weekly clean up of local gardens which encourages citizenship, team work and integration.
We want to build on existing activities by planning trees and plants however extra financial assistance will be required. After building on this element of the citizenship classes we aim to expand the session to cover other topics in line with the national curriculum.
These topics will include human rights, culture, religion, diversity, identity, environment, community action, extremism, terrorism and democracy.
Activity 4 â At the Utley centre we are running a weekly youth club for boys aged 5-18yrs . This is explained further on the STAR project page. We want to develop this so that we can do more workshops etc and run a youth project for girls from this centre.
